This site is built on public records, so it should be straight with you about its own records too. Here is everything it collects, in plain language.
What an account stores
If you create an account, we store your email address and the public display name you choose. That is the whole account. Your display name appears next to research you publish; your email is never shown publicly.
What identity verification stores
To claim a lead you verify your identity once: your legal name, date of birth, country, and a photo of a government ID. These documents are stored privately, visible only to the reviewer who approves or rejects your verification, and are deleted after 90 days. They are never published, never shared, and never used for anything except that one check.
What donations store
Donations are processed by our payment processor. This site never sees, stores, or handles your card number — that stays with the processor. We keep the amount, the date, and whether it was one-time or monthly, so we can show donation totals and manage monthly support. If you opt in to the supporters page, we show the name you chose — never the amount.
What the site publishes
The provider information on this site comes from public United States government records — Medicare enrollment, payment, and exclusion files that the government publishes for anyone to read. Every flag links back to the public record it came from. If you believe a record about you or your business is wrong, the fix starts with the government file itself; see the contact page for how to reach us about a correction.
Visitor counting
We count how many times each page is viewed so we know what people find useful. That counter stores a page address, a day, and a number — nothing else. No IP addresses, no device fingerprints, no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, and nothing that identifies you. We would rather know less about you and be able to say so.
What we never do
- We never sell or share your information with anyone.
